The Community Program (Ages 6-18)

The Dance Institute of Washington’s Community Program is designed for dancers with a recreational interest in dance. Classes are offered in a range of dance forms for any student to explore. Classes offer a fun, enriching, and nurturing environment for the exploration of dance as an art form. Students of all skill levels are welcome.

What The Student Learns

Students receive high quality, level-appropriate instruction in a low-stress environment in the dance style of their choice. Reflecting the National Standards for Learning and Teaching Dance, the DIW’s Community Program curriculum addresses performing, creating, and responding to dance. Technical instruction emphasizes coordination, kinesthetic awareness, musicality, and the development of personal style during performance. Additionally, a disciplined study of dance provides a healthy physical outlet and productive social environment for the development of young minds and bodies. Please note, in order to secure a space, the studio must receive the registration fee and 50% of the tuition. Summer tuition must be paid in full by the first day of class.
