The Summer Intensive is a six-week dance program for intermediate and advanced students between 13 and 19 years of age. Participants receive intensive training in ballet, modern, repertory, jazz, and pilates, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our students have performed at Wolf Trap, the Lincoln Theatre and the Kennedy Center; have continued training at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Marymount Manhattan, SUNY Purchase, Temple and Harvard; and/or have gone on to professional careers with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre - Ailey II, and the San Jose Ballet.
Tuition: $1,375.00
Summer Intensive Audition Dates: Students must audition to be accepted into the program. Students currently enrolled in the Pre-Professional Program do not have to audition. Current students should contact the studio if you intend to register.

2010 Summer Intensive Audition Form
If the student is under the age of 18 and will be travelling to and from the studio without adult supervision, please download this form and submit with the application package.
Students may audition by either attending an audition or submitting a video audition. There is a $25 fee.
DVD or Tape Audition: DVDs or tapes should be no longer than 10 minutes and must include an introduction with name, age, years of study, places of study, and a brief summary describing why you are interested in dance. Students must submit an audition form and a check for $25 made out to The Dance Institute of Washington. The DVD or tape should include:
Ballet Technique: Barre work, (plies, battement tendu, grand battement, adagio); center work, (adagio, pirouettes, & grand allegro). Barre and center exercises should be only on one side.
Modern Technique: Horton, Graham, or release
REQUIRED DRESS:
Females: Leotard with flesh tone or pink tights and ballet shoes. Your form should be visible, no baggy clothing please.
Males: Black tights with a fitted white T-shirt or leotard and ballet shoes
